LU was founded in 1866 as an education center for teachers. In 1890, it acquired the denomination of land grant institution and began offering agricultural and industrial courses. LU currently holds the university denomination and is focused on providing a high-quality education to the public.
Our classes are student-centered and allow interaction with our expert faculty, 67% of whom have earned the highest degrees in their fields.
The Laboratory of Genomic Dissection is part of the Department of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, College of Agriculture, Environmental, and Human Sciences. Our laboratory aims to provide agriculture with new knowledge, best practices, and upstanding talent. Farming has long been an essential component of Missouri and the United States, and education, research, and business centered on agriculture have played a vital role in driving the economy and producing critical resources.
