The Laboratory of Genomic Dissection is focused on performing research to understand the genetic architecture of complex phenotypes. To this end, we apply biotechnological tools such as DNA and RNA sequencing, Genome-Wide Association (GWA) analysis, and deep phenotyping approaches such as metabolome profiling using spectrophotometry and gene expression. Our species for research is small ruminants, including sheep and goats. However, other species are also under consideration, including plants and animal models.

LabGenomicDissection

Two different branches of research have been proposed as the laboratory's primary focus:

1) Understanding the genetic architecture of phenotypes of economic interest in farm animals, and 2) Identifying the role that the exposome has on complex phenotypes, including gene expression. Currently, diet and environmental conditions are considered the main exposome factors identified for research in our laboratory. Multiple species, including animals and plants, are considered for analysis.
